Institutional Drawing Power (DP) & MPBF Working Capital Calculator
Model usable Drawing Power (DP) from inventory and eligible book debts, apply unpaid creditor deductions, and compute Tandon Committee Method II Maximum Permissible Bank Finance (MPBF) for consortium CC/OD limits.
How is Drawing Power (DP) calculated in Cash Credit (CC) and Overdraft (OD) accounts?
Under Reserve Bank of India and Indian Banks' Association guidelines, Drawing Power (DP) is calculated as: DP = [(Total Eligible Stock − Unpaid Trade Creditors) × (1 − Stock Margin %)] + [Eligible Book Debts (< 90 Days) × (1 − Debtors Margin %)]. A borrower cannot draw beyond the lower of (a) the Sanctioned Limit or (b) the available Drawing Power. Drawing beyond DP triggers penal interest (typically 1.00% to 2.00% p.a.) and account irregularity flags under SMA/NPA classification norms.

Navigating DP Deficits & Consortium Enhancement
How CreditCares resolves working capital squeeze and upgrades standalone CC lines into multi-bank consortiums.
- Creditor Carve-Out & LC Optimization
- Converting open-account trade creditors into inland Letters of Credit (LCs). Since LC-backed purchases are treated under non-fund limits, they do not erode cash DP, instantly unlocking fund-based drawing room.
- Debtor Aging Realignment (90 to 120 Days)
- Presenting audited industry working capital cycle evidence to consortium credit committees to formally extend eligible debtor cutoff periods from 90 to 120 days for infrastructure, EPC, and capital goods manufacturers.
- Tandon Method II MPBF Enhancement
- Re-benchmarking Net Working Capital (NWC) and long-term surplus funds in CMA data, structuring a proportionate blend of Cash Credit and Working Capital Demand Loans (WCDL) at sub-MCLR spreads.
- Consortium Pari-Passu Charge Creation
- Facilitating Inter-Creditor Agreements (ICA) among 3 to 6 member banks to execute joint hypothecation deeds and ROC Form CHG-1 filings without bilateral delays.
Stock Statement Submission Deadlines & Penal Clauses
Banks mandate submission of monthly certified stock statements by the 15th of the succeeding month. Failure to submit within 30 days results in automatic drawing power freezes, debit freezes, or 1% to 2% penal interest across the entire outstanding balance. CreditCares institutes automated reporting frameworks ensuring audit-proof compliance.
Frequently Asked Questions: Drawing Power & Working Capital
Why do banks deduct Sundry Creditors from inventory when calculating Drawing Power? ▼
Unpaid trade creditors hold a legal first charge/lien on goods sold until invoice payment is realized. If the borrower defaults, unpaid vendors can legally reclaim goods. Banks only lend against unencumbered, fully "paid-up" inventory to maintain an unassailable first pari-passu hypothecation charge.
What is the difference between Sanctioned Limit and Drawing Power? ▼
The Sanctioned Limit is the maximum facility ceiling approved by the bank's credit sanction committee based on CMA projections. Drawing Power (DP) is the dynamic monthly borrowing room determined by actual realizable inventory and debtor levels. Borrowers can only withdraw up to the lower of the two figures.
What happens if my Drawing Power falls below my bank loan balance? ▼
An account with outstanding balance exceeding DP is classified as "irregular". If this condition persists beyond 90 days, the account is classified as a Non-Performing Asset (NPA) under RBI prudential norms, even if interest is being serviced. Deficits must be regularized via cash infusion or fresh inventory purchases.
