In-principle approval before you walk into a branch.
psbloansin59minutes.com is a government-backed digital portal that gives MSME borrowers in-principle loan approval within 59 minutes, using bank statements, ITR, GST data and CIBIL for automated credit scoring — final sanction and disbursal still follow through the selected bank's normal process.
What the portal actually does
The portal is a matching and pre-approval engine, not a lender itself. You submit basic business details, and the system auto-fetches and analyses your bank statements, ITR filings, GST returns and CIBIL data to produce an in-principle approval, typically within the promised 59 minutes — a dramatic reduction from the 20 to 25 day turnaround that traditional MSME loan processing used to take.
In-principle approval is not final sanction. Once approved in-principle, the application routes to a selected public sector bank (or in some cases NBFC), which conducts its own verification and issues final sanction, with disbursal typically following in 7 to 8 working days after that. The portal accelerates the initial screening; the underlying credit decision still rests with the bank.
The initiative is led by SIDBI in partnership with public sector banks under the Department of Financial Services, and has processed a large volume of applications since launch in 2018, establishing itself as a significant digital MSME lending intervention rather than a niche pilot.
Who can use the portal
- MSMEs and self-employed professionals with a formal banking and GST/ITR footprint
- Loan requirement between ₹1 Lakh and ₹5 Crore
- Also covers home, auto and personal loan categories in some configurations
- Applicable across manufacturing, trading and services sectors
Using the portal effectively
Clean, filed GST and ITR data speeds everything up
The portal's automated scoring pulls directly from your GST returns and income tax filings. Gaps, mismatches or unfiled returns slow or weaken the in-principle approval considerably — the same discipline that helps any loan application helps this one more, because the process is largely automated.
In-principle approval is not a guarantee of final sanction
Treat the 59-minute approval as a strong signal, not a certainty. The selected bank still conducts its own verification, and final terms can differ from the in-principle indication, particularly on rate and exact quantum.
It complements, rather than replaces, direct bank relationships
For straightforward, well-documented MSME files, the portal is genuinely fast. For more complex situations — existing stress, unusual structures, larger project finance — a direct, structured approach to the right lender often serves better.

No, the portal accelerates the approval process; it does not itself set or guarantee pricing. The interest rate is still determined by the bank that ultimately sanctions the loan, based on your profile and its own policy.
Incomplete or inconsistent filings will weaken the automated in-principle approval significantly, since the system relies heavily on this data. Bringing filings current before applying meaningfully improves the outcome.
